Monthly meetings

The Ames PFLAG chapter meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Paul Room of Youth and Shelter Services at 420 Kellogg Avenue.

PFLAG is committed to safety and confidentiality at all meetings. Please remember that unless you have been given permission to do so, do not use a person’s name or identifying information when discussing PFLAG outside of our chapter meetings. The success of this organization depends on everyone feeling safe to share.

Our mission

Our Ames chapter of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays has several functions in our community.

First, we provide support by offering a safe place for people to come together and share their experiences.

Next, we seek to educate ourselves and others to dispel misinformation created by ignorance and homophobia.

Lastly, we advocate for equal justice for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered individuals in our schools, communities, state and the nation.

Our goal is to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
